More legal drivel

Privacy Policy

What we know about you. It's less than you think.

Last updated: January 2, 2026 — We're not watching you. Much.

We collect some data. Not because we're creepy, but because websites need data to work. We'll be honest about what we take, why we take it, and what we definitely don't do with it.

TL;DR (for the impatient)

  • • We collect your email if you subscribe. Obviously.
  • • We use cookies for basic analytics. The boring kind.
  • • We don't sell your data. Not even tempted.
  • • You can delete your data anytime. We'll miss you.
  • • No, we can't see your browsing history. Relax.

1. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Email address — When you subscribe. Required for sending emails. Shocking.
  • Name — Optional. Makes emails feel warmer.
  • Contact form submissions — Whatever you type in the box.
  • Payment info — If you buy something. Processed by Stripe, not us.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device info — Browser type, operating system. Generic stuff.
  • Usage data — Pages visited, time on site, clicks. Aggregated, not individual.
  • IP address — Temporarily, for security. We don't store it.
  • Cookies — Small text files. See section 4.

2. How we use it

Your data helps us:

  • Send you the newsletter you asked for
  • Understand which facts people actually care about
  • Fix bugs and improve the site
  • Respond when you contact us
  • Process orders (if applicable)
  • Comply with legal requirements (boring but necessary)

We don't use your data to build psychological profiles, target you with manipulation tactics, or train AI models. We're a facts website, not a dystopian tech company.

3. Who we share it with

Short answer: Almost nobody.

Longer answer: We use some services to run the site:

Email provider

For sending newsletters. They see your email. That's it.

Analytics

Privacy-focused analytics. No personal data shared.

Payment processor

Stripe handles payments. We never see your card number.

Hosting

Amazon Web Services. They're reputable. Your data doesn't sit in a shed.

We don't sell data to advertisers. Our sponsors get aggregate numbers ("23,000 people clicked"), not your email address.

4. Cookies

Yes, we use cookies. No, not the yummy kind.

Type Purpose Duration
Essential Site functionality Session
Analytics Understanding usage 1 year
Preferences Remembering settings 1 year

You can disable cookies in your browser. Some things might break. That's the trade-off.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you probably have rights. Here are the common ones:

  • Access — Ask what data we have on you
  • Correction — Fix inaccurate data
  • Deletion — Ask us to delete your data
  • Portability — Get your data in a usable format
  • Opt-out — Unsubscribe anytime. One click.

To exercise these rights, use your account. If you're incapable, email us. We'll handle it within 30 days, usually much faster. Fines are scary.

6. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

  • HTTPS everywhere (that padlock in your browser)
  • Encrypted databases
  • Limited access (not everyone on the team sees everything)
  • Regular security reviews

No system is 100% secure. If something goes wrong, we'll tell you. Promptly. Honestly. Apologetically.

7. Children

We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you're a parent and think your kid subscribed, let us know and we'll delete it.

Though honestly, if your teenager is voluntarily reading daily facts, you're doing something right.

8. International transfers

We're based in the UK. Your data might be processed in other countries (like wherever our email provider's servers are). We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

For EU folks: Yes, we respect GDPR. For California folks: Yes, we respect CCPA. For everyone else: We respect you too.

9. Changes

We might update this policy. When we do:

  • We'll update the date at the top
  • For significant changes, we'll email subscribers
  • Previous versions available on request (we archive everything)

10. Questions?

Privacy concerns? Data requests? General paranoia?

privacy@incuriously.com

We respond to all privacy inquiries. Usually within a few days. Often with more information than you wanted.

Congratulations on reading a privacy policy. Statistically, you're one of maybe twelve people who will. Fact: The average privacy policy is longer than the U.S. Constitution. We tried to do better.
